Dear Friends of the Erath 4th of July Celebration,

After much thought and prayer, it is with great sadness that we announce that 84th Annual Erath 4th of July Celebration has been cancelled. This was an extremely difficult decision to make and the Board did not come to this decision lightly. However after seeking the guidance of our local and State officials as well as the Louisiana Department of Health, and in cooperation with the directive from the Governor on social distancing, we feel as though there is no other option this year. As you can imagine, an event of this magnitude takes months to plan and involves working with a number of vendors, musicians, and sponsors. It is vital that we take into account and do our part to preserve the health of our community and those who travel from afar to celebrate with us.

The Erath 4th of July Association thanks you for your patience and understanding as we work through such unprecedented times. Our plan is to keep you informed and uplifted as much as possible. Please follow us on our Facebook page for updated information and fun ways that we CAN celebrate from a distance. Be on the lookout for our limited edition 4th of July shirts that will be available for purchase soon. In keeping with our community and festival tradition, our plan is to continue to Light up the Sky on the 4th of July. Stay tuned for details on how you can view our amazing fireworks display on the evening of July 4th at 9:00p.m. (The fireworks display is contingent on fire marshal approval and government social distancing protocol approval. Details to come.)

We are also pleased to announce that although we had to cancel our 2020 festival pageants, our reigning Erath 4th of July Royalty have agreed to continue their reign for another year, and will continue to represent our 4th of July Celebration at events across the state this year.

We still plan to celebrate our Independence, it will just look a little different this year. Thank you for understanding and for your continued support. May God Bless America!

Sincerely,

The Erath 4th of July Association
